What Do We Do for Robert Ndicunguye?

People are just good! There are these people who believe that all people deserve happiness; people who believe that everyone must have a good life. There is this amazing community of Kepler which made me realize that it should always be the responsibility of everyone to help. Keplerians, both students and Course Facilitators from Kepler, have been very generous to help Robert Ndicunguye. Every time I announced that we are visiting Robert Ndicunguye on a particular day, everyone put the thumb up to join. Some Keplerians did contribute some money to buy different materials for Robert while others paid him visits. However, there are people who contributed the money and still visited Robert. This made me realize that Keplerians care. They really care!

Here, I will be using “we” instead of “I” because Kepler community and I have been helping Robert together. Usually, we visit Robert twice a year; in the middle of the year and before Christmastime. There are different facilities we donate to Robert Ndicunguye. Among the materials that we provide to Robert, there are school materials such as notebooks, pens, pencils, mathematical sets, and backpack. We also help him to get shoes and clothes to look smart because he deserves it. The hygiene materials that we donate include soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and lotion. Because Robert lives with his parents and siblings, every time we visit him, we make sure that we carry something that the entire family can share. Usually, we carry some foodstuff with us, and they include rice, sugar, and porridge flour. We also carry the sweets to share while talking with the entire family.

The materials we donate to Robert help him to keep studying. We believe that through education everything is possible in the future. So, we believe that Robert will become someone very special in future. He is currently in Primary 4, and he is doing great with the studies. He is smart and looks forward to keeping good grades in order to be a better person in future. Having said that, we hope that Robert will pursue his studies up to university if we continue to join hands and help him. In order to help the whole family sustainably, we managed to get three goats for the family to rear. We hope that these goats will help the family cater for some future expenses, hence transforming their own lives.
